Arbitrary cylindrical vector beam generation enabled by polarization-selective Gouy phase shifter

Cylindrical vector beams (CVBs), which possess polarization distribution of rotational symmetry on the transverse plane, can be developed in many optical technologies. Conventional methods to generate CVBs contain redundant interferometers or need switch among diverse elements, thus being inconvenient applications containing multiple CVBs. Here we provide a passive polarization-selective device substitute and simplify generation setup. It is accomplished by reversing topological charges orbital angular momentum based Gouy phase. In process, tunable input light only condition CVB with arbitrary charges. To cover both azimuthal radial parameters CVBs, express mapping between scalar Laguerre–Gaussian basic Poincaré sphere high-order sphere. The proposed simplifies enormously has potential integrated devices for quantum classic experiments.

The vector beams are synthesized from the left- and right-hand polarized light, each carrying different phase distributions. We propose and demonstrate a novel photonic phase shifter based on vector summation technique using polarization maintaining fibers (PMF). The phase change is achieved by controlling the modulator bias point and the polarization state of the signal injected into PMF.
